If you'd like a more in-depth introduction to positioning, paddle grips, and sailing techniques, we offer intro courses throughout the summer holiday.
FAQ
What is SUP?
SUP originated in Hawaii, where surf instructors stood on the board to keep an eye on their students. The sport has now developed in many directions and has become a popular alternative to kayaking. SUP can be practiced on flat water and on waves – by both children and adults. It’s a unique opportunity to experience nature from a different perspective than usual, while also training the body's core muscles. You just need to learn to find your balance on the board, so it's perfectly okay to fall into the water the first few times. Progression is quick, and you'll easily have a great and different experience on the water. Besides being an excellent balance trainer, SUP is also a great alternative for wind- and kitesurfers when the wind is not strong enough.
How do I get started?
Lynæs is a great place to try SUP surf, as the water is shallow all the way along the beach, and it takes a long distance before it gets deep. This makes it a safe environment to venture out, even if you're new to SUP. However, you should at least be able to swim – or have someone with you who can. We also recommend that you are familiar with and can perform the learning goals from our course before heading out on the water. You can find the learning objectives in the next question.
If you're the type who likes to get to know the new gear you're using, we also offer courses where you'll learn techniques, paddle grips, and other helpful tips.
You can rent SUPs from us, but you are also welcome to bring your own.
How do I know if I need a course?
We always recommend taking a basic SUP course before you venture out on the water. If you're unsure whether you're ready to SUP on your own, you can check the learning objectives for our courses here:

Do you need equipment other than the board when Stand Up Paddling?
When you rent a SUP, a paddle and vest are always included. In the height of summer and when the sun is shining, you can easily paddle out in swimwear, but as soon as there’s even a slight breeze, and as the season progresses, it’s highly recommended to rent a wetsuit. For the basic course, all neoprene gear is included in the course.
Can I rent the SUP for longer periods of time?
You can see hourly and daily rates under rentals. If you want to rent over several days, please contact us - we're open for business 🙂
Are there different sizes of SUP boards available?
Yes, we do, and we have different sizes for everyone. Generally, you can only stand on a SUP board by yourself, but we have larger models that are perfect for bringing kids along. Additionally, we also have XL SUPs, where up to eight people can join in!
