Beginner course
The beginner course is the perfect introduction to kitesurfing. You'll have 10 hours with an instructor who will guide you through both theory and practice. The package also includes the theory from the Discovery package, so you only need to book the beginner package. You can choose to take the beginner course over one or two days, and either alone or with up to 3 participants per instructor. We recommend 2 students per instructor to get the most out of the lessons. As a rule of thumb, it takes 10-15 hours of instruction before you can go out with a kite without the supervision of an instructor, which is why we always recommend starting with 10 hours of lessons.

Courses for businesses, institutions, and larger groups
If you're booking for a larger group, we can handle up to 15 people. Large group courses last 6 hours and include a short lunch break from land to water. Remember that kitesurfing requires quite specific wind conditions and if you can only do it on a specific date, we actually recommend that you choose windsurfing instead, as this can be done in all weather conditions. You are also welcome to contact us to hear about the possibilities of setting up a weekend camp with accommodation, meals and activities for you.
Frequently asked questions
FAQ
How does it work if there is no wind?
No wind, no course, no payment. Kitesurfing requires a minimum of 6 m/s wind, as it’s not possible to teach in lower conditions, since the kites won't stay in the air. As a general rule, we always expect your kitesurfing course to take place, and we will contact you 1-2 days in advance if it’s not possible. You’ll then receive an email with a link where you can reschedule to a new time.
Please note that if you book Discovery, there is no lower wind limit as the course is primarily theoretical.
Kitesurfing is a wind sport, so it sometimes takes a few bookings before everything aligns, but sometimes you get lucky! 🙂 We might ask if you’re willing to move to another spot if the wind is better at that location, but it’s your decision whether you only want lessons in Lynæs or if you’re up for driving to other spots.
Can you get training elsewhere than Lynæs?
Yes, we teach in collaboration with DM Kitesurf, which means we can offer lessons all over Zealand. You can choose whether you want to have lessons in Lynæs or if you’re open to other spots if the wind is better there when you book.
Can't I just buy a kite and go out and learn on my own?
Kitesurfing is an extreme sport, and it is strongly advised against going out on your own without certified kitesurfing instruction. This is not only for your own safety but also for the safety of those around you – and to ensure that kitesurfing remains possible on Danish beaches in the future.
Kitesurfing is NOT dangerous, but you need to learn how to handle the equipment - otherwise it is.
The first lesson in kitesurfing is free, and it goes like this: NEVER buy a kite without taking a kitesurfing course!
How long does it take to learn kitesurfing?
It varies greatly from person to person, but generally, it takes about 10-15 hours to achieve DS1* if the lessons are with 1-2 people. The more students per instructor, the longer it typically takes. Once you have DS1, you'll be able to go out on your own, but we often see our students book a few additional hours afterward to fine-tune skills, like board control, for example.

- Denmark's best beginner spot
- Wind guarantee (no wind = no payment)
- Extensive experience and professional instructors
- Always the newest gear
- Room for large groups +20
How does a kitesurf course work?
If you’ve never tried kitesurfing before, the course always starts on land. We set up a trainer kite, which is a smaller version of the full-size kite. Here, you’ll learn the basic skills, and it takes about an hour. We also run ongoing theory sessions - so no boring classroom lectures 😉
Next, you'll head straight to the equipment and down to the beach to set up. During the setup, you'll receive a safety briefing, and then you'll head out into the water.
On the water, you'll begin with basic exercises and kite control. As you progress, you'll move on to more action-packed activities like bodydragging. Only one kite is used per instructor, as it's not possible to send two beginners out with their own kites and share one instructor. Once both individuals are skilled enough, two people with their own kites can share an instructor. The timeframe may vary, but it typically takes around 10 hours.
Do we each have our own kite?
At the beginner level, each instructor is assigned one kite per student. Once everyone reaches a suitable level, instruction with two kites per instructor is possible, usually after about 10 hours. We recommend sharing a kite in the beginning, as handling it alone without an instructor can be quite intense.
Who is the instructor?
We have many different instructors, but all our kite courses are conducted in collaboration with DM Kiteschool, who will be your contact person after booking. We primarily teach in Lynæs, but it's possible that we may offer to drive to another beach if the wind is better there than in Lynæs. You can choose whether you want to stick to Lynæs or also include other spots when booking.
